GOLF: Tommy Fleetwood proud to carry ‘25 consistency into ’26
Tommy Fleetwood capped a career-best 2025 by winning the Tour Championship and the DP World India Championship, rising to No. 3 in the world rankings. He has carried that form into 2026, finishing in the top 10 in seven of his last 10 PGA Tour starts.

Tommy Fleetwood enjoyed the best year of his golf career in 2025.
The Englishman made 18 cuts in 19 PGA Tour starts, finishing in the top 25 nearly every time. He came close to victory at the Travelers Championship (T2) and the FedEx St. Jude Championship (T3) before finally breaking through on one of the sport’s biggest stages.
Fleetwood captured the Tour Championship in August, marking his first FedEx Cup win and his first PGA Tour victory on U.S. soil. He followed that triumph with a win at the DP World India Championship and reached a career-high world ranking of No. 3.
Speaking to reporters Tuesday before the Valero Texas Open, Fleetwood said he is pleased to maintain his strong form three months into 2026.
"I think I pride myself on trying to be as consistent as possible and play at a level that is competitive with the best players in the world," Fleetwood said. "It's been a nice run. I finished last season on both the PGA Tour and DP World Tour so strongly, and found myself playing some of the best golf of my life. That was really enjoyable."
Fleetwood has made the cut in each of his first four PGA Tour starts this year, including a T4 at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am and a T8 at The Players Championship. Overall, he has finished inside the top 10 in seven of his past 10 PGA Tour events.
"We are coming into such a big stretch now, so it's nice to have that to build on," he said.
That stretch begins with the Masters next week, followed by one major per month and a handful of signature events in between. The Texas Open, traditionally held the week before Augusta National, is the final tune-up before the season’s first major. Fleetwood first played the event in 2024, tying for seventh, and made the cut last year despite a final-round 81.
"The last couple years, I’ve felt better when I’ve played the week before a major," he said. "The four majors come first. When planning the schedule, you want to tee up feeling the most prepared. Then you look at courses you enjoy and venues you like. I’ve played well at this event and enjoy it. It happens to come the week before the Masters, so it’s a big win for me."
