Alperen Sengun and Kevin Durant each scored 33 points to lead the Houston Rockets to a 108-99 comeback win over the short-handed Memphis Grizzlies on Monday.

Sengun also contributed nine rebounds and six assists, nearly singlehandedly sparking Houston’s fourth-quarter rally after Memphis led by as much as 10 points in the third period. Sengun scored twice in the paint and helped ignite the Rockets’ comeback with a transition dunk at the 9:53 mark, giving Houston an 85-79 lead.

He continued to set the tone late, assisting on an Amen Thompson dunk before finding Josh Okogie for another layup. Sengun then added another dunk and layup, along with assists on two Durant 3-pointers. Durant missed two early 3s before connecting on a long-range shot that extended the Rockets’ lead to 104-95 with 1:32 left in the game.

Sengun was nearly perfect from the floor, going 15-of-17 and missing only once inside the arc. Durant finished with eight rebounds and recovered after his slow start, making 4-of-6 three-pointers after going 0-for-3 early.

Tari Eason added 17 points and seven rebounds for Houston, while Thompson recorded eight points, eight rebounds and a career-high 14 assists.

For Memphis, Jaren Jackson Jr. and Santi Aldama each scored 17 points and grabbed seven rebounds. The Grizzlies were without key players Ja Morant and Zach Edey, while GG Jackson added 14 points off the bench.

Houston got off to a strong start, but the Rockets’ offense cooled quickly as their 3-point shots began to fall short. Eason was the lone exception early, hitting 3-of-4 from deep in the opening quarter and helping Houston build a nine-point lead.

Aside from Eason, the Rockets went 0-for-9 from beyond the arc in the first quarter. Memphis took advantage of Houston’s sloppy ball-handling, turning three early turnovers into five points. The Grizzlies later extended their lead to 38-33 after Jackson converted a missed shot into a dunk.

Houston briefly cut the deficit with a 6-0 run, but Memphis responded with a 7-0 spurt. Jabari Smith Jr. hit two 3-pointers to stop the run, yet Memphis still led 54-51 at halftime as the Rockets missed 15 of their 20 attempts from long range in the first half. -Field Level Media/Reuters
