NBA: Bam Adebayo's 83-point effort ranks 2nd all time

Bam Adebayo scored a historic 83 points, the second-most in NBA history, leading the Miami Heat past the Washington Wizards 150-129. Other highlights included Victor Wembanyama’s 39 points for the Spurs, Devin Carter’s fourth-quarter surge for the Kings, and Cameron Payne hitting a career-high 32 points for the 76ers.

Bam Adebayo produced the second-highest single-game scoring total in NBA history, scoring 83 points as the Miami Heat defeated the Washington Wizards 150-129 on Tuesday night.


The 28-year-old center scored 31 points in the first quarter, surpassing Kobe Bryant’s 81-point effort in 2006. Wilt Chamberlain’s 100-point game in 1962 remains the NBA record.


In 42 minutes, Adebayo shot 20-for-43 from the floor, 7-for-22 from 3-point range, and 36-for-43 at the free-throw line, while grabbing nine rebounds. He also set NBA single-game records for most free throws made and attempted, surpassing the previous marks held by Chamberlain, Adrian Dantley, and Dwight Howard.


Washington has now lost nine straight games, with Alex Sarr leading the Wizards with 28 points.

Lakers 120, Timberwolves 106 – Luka Doncic recorded a triple-double with 31 points, 11 rebounds, and 11 assists to lead Los Angeles past Minnesota. Austin Reaves added 31 points, and Deandre Ayton finished with 14 points and 12 rebounds. Anthony Edwards led the Timberwolves with 14 points.


Pistons 138, Nets 100 – Jalen Duren scored 26 points in three quarters, and Cade Cunningham added 21 points with 15 assists as Detroit ended a four-game losing streak. Michael Porter Jr. led Brooklyn with 19 points.


Kings 114, Pacers 109 – Devin Carter scored 22 of his 24 points in the fourth quarter to help Sacramento rally from a 20-point deficit. Aaron Nesmith paced Indiana with 29 points.


Rockets 113, Raptors 99 – Kevin Durant led Houston with 29 points, while Amen Thompson and Jabari Smith Jr. added 23 points each. RJ Barrett scored 25 points for Toronto.


Spurs 125, Celtics 116 – Victor Wembanyama scored 39 points, tying his career high with eight 3-pointers, adding 11 rebounds as San Antonio defeated Boston. Derrick White led the Celtics with 34 points.


Hawks 124, Mavericks 112 – Jalen Johnson scored 27 points, including 13 in the fourth quarter, as Atlanta extended its winning streak to seven games. Klay Thompson led Dallas with 21 points.


76ers 139, Grizzlies 129 – Cameron Payne made all eight of his 3-point attempts for a career-high 32 points, helping Philadelphia overcome Memphis. Kelly Oubre Jr. added 31 points.


Suns 129, Bucks 114 – Devin Booker had 27 points and seven assists, leading Phoenix to a win over Milwaukee. Kyle Kuzma scored a season-high 33 points for the Bucks.


Bulls 130, Warriors 124 (OT) – Matas Buzelis scored a career-high 41 points, including five in overtime, and Josh Giddey recorded a triple-double as Chicago outlasted Golden State.


Hornets 103, Trail Blazers 101 – Brandon Miller had 23 points and nine rebounds, helping Charlotte overcome a 19-point deficit against Portland. LaMelo Ball scored 14 points before fouling out.
