Brandin Podziemski exploded for 24 points and Stephen Curry added 19 in a balanced offensive attack as the Golden State Warriors overcame the loss of Jimmy Butler III to a knee injury and cruised to a 135-112 victory over the visiting Miami Heat in San Francisco on Monday night.

Butler, the Heat’s leading scorer at the time with 17 points, injured his right knee while chasing a loose ball under the Warriors’ basket with 7:41 remaining in the third quarter. The six-time All-Star immediately collapsed to the court in pain and was helped off the floor and into the locker room.

No official update on the severity of Butler’s injury was announced by the end of the game.

At the time of the injury, the Warriors held a narrow 77-75 lead. They responded with a 12-point run, their biggest lead of the game up to that point. Podziemski scored seven points during the run, including a 3-pointer, while Curry added a long-range basket to help Golden State lead 89-75 with 5:17 left in the third quarter.

Miami briefly closed the gap to eight points before the end of the period, but the Heat never got closer than nine in the final quarter.

Podziemski added two more 3-pointers in the fourth quarter, and Buddy Hield contributed both 2-point and 3-point shots during a decisive 17-0 run that broke the game open. The Warriors then maintained control and secured their best start of the season with a fourth straight win.

Podziemski finished 9-of-19 from the field as the Warriors shot 51.6% overall, playing their seventh consecutive home game.

Curry recorded a double-double with a game-high 11 assists and made five of Golden State’s 24 3-pointers. The Warriors dominated from beyond the arc, outscoring the Heat 72-39 in 3-point points. Hield and Quinten Post each contributed four 3-pointers.

Hield ended the game with 16 points, Post scored 15, Moses Moody added 13, and Al Horford finished with 10 points. Post also led the team with nine rebounds. Golden State played without De’Anthony Melton and Draymond Green as part of a back-to-back schedule.

For the Heat, Norman Powell led the scoring with 21 points, while Andrew Wiggins had 18 in his first San Francisco appearance since being traded to Miami last February in the package deal for Butler.

Bam Adebayo recorded a game-high 12 rebounds but struggled offensively, finishing with just four points after missing 12 of 13 shots. Kel’el Ware added 15 points, Simone Fontecchio scored 13, and Jaime Jaquez Jr. contributed 10 points along with a team-high nine assists.

Miami began a five-game Western road trip after coming off a home win against Oklahoma City.
