Will Richard scored 21 points, while Gary Payton II and Brandin Podziemski added 19 apiece to lead the Golden State Warriors to a 133-112 victory over the host Memphis Grizzlies on Wednesday.
All nine Warriors who played made at least one 3-pointer, as Golden State finished 19-for-46 from deep. Gui Santos contributed 17 points and Moses Moody added 14 for the Warriors.
Memphis, suffering its seventh loss in eight games, was led by GG Jackson with 24 points and eight rebounds. Ty Jerome scored 22 points, dished out five assists, and made four 3-pointers. Javon Small had 16 points, and Taylor Hendricks added 14 for the Grizzlies.
Outsized and short-handed, Memphis was outrebounded 48-34. The team has been dominated on the boards 150-107 over its past three games, all defeats.
The Grizzlies played without star guard Ja Morant, who missed his 15th straight game with an elbow injury. Also sidelined were starters Cedric Coward (knee), Santi Aldama (knee), and Zach Edey (ankle).
Golden State was also missing key players. Stephen Curry (knee), Draymond Green (back), Kristaps Porzingis (illness), and Jimmy Butler III (torn ACL, out for season) did not play. Curry has been out for nine consecutive games since Jan. 30 with a right knee injury.
The Warriors pulled away in the second quarter with a 13-0 run, taking a 63-39 lead. They led 74-53 at halftime.
Memphis briefly cut the deficit to 82-70 with a 7-0 run early in the third quarter, but Santos helped Golden State respond with a 12-2 run, pushing the lead back to 22 points by the end of the period.
In the fourth quarter, the Warriors extended their advantage, which reached 32 points midway through the period after a basket by Richard capped a 10-1 run.
Golden State’s balanced attack and sharp shooting proved too much for the undermanned Grizzlies.
