Anton Forsberg made 27 saves for the Los Angeles Kings in a 1-0 win against the visiting Edmonton Oilers on Saturday afternoon
Forsberg, who has surpassed Darcy Kuemper as the No. 1 goalie in Los Angeles, has three shutouts this season and 11 in his 11-year NHL career.
Artemi Panarin scored the lone goal of the game for the Kings (34-26-19, 87 points), who won their fourth in a row to hold on to the second wild-card spot from the Western Conference with three games remaining.
The Kings came into the day one point ahead of the Nashville Predators, three up on the Winnipeg Jets and four ahead of the San Jose Sharks.
Connor Ingram made 20 saves for the Oilers (40-30-10, 90 points), who came into the day clinging to first place in the Pacific Division by one point over the Vegas Golden Knights and Anaheim Ducks.
The Oilers lost 1-0 for the third time this season and fell to 1-2-1 in their past four games.
Panarin scored the only goal at 7:34 of the first period.
The Oilers were cycling the puck in their zone when Panarin stole the puck from Edmonton defenseman Evan Bouchard at the right point to spark a breakaway.
Panarin skated in on Ingram and beat him over his glove for his 28th goal of the season and ninth since he was traded to the Kings from the New York Rangers on Feb. 4.
After not having a power play in their previous two games, the Kings finally went on one with 5:33 left in the third period when Connor McDavid was called for holding Mikey Anderson.
