NHL: Stars stomp Sharks, extend point streak to 9 games

Mikko Rantanen recorded a goal and two assists as the Dallas Stars defeated the visiting San Jose Sharks 4-1 on Friday, extending their points streak to nine games (7-0-2). Since the start of the 2015-16 season, the Stars are 12-1-0 in 13 home games against the Sharks.
Sam Steel, Jason Robertson, and Miro Heiskanen also scored for Dallas, while Wyatt Johnston added two assists. Goaltender Jake Oettinger stopped 16 of 17 shots, securing his fifth consecutive win. Yaroslav Askarov made 20 saves for the Sharks, who are on a two-game losing streak, and Collin Graf scored San Jose's lone goal.
Ducks 4, Capitals 3 (SO)
Beckett Sennecke and Ross Johnston each contributed a goal and an assist as the Anaheim Ducks defeated the visiting Washington Capitals in a shootout. Troy Terry and Mason McTavish scored in the shootout for Anaheim, who rallied three times from one-goal deficits during regulation. Cutter Gauthier also scored, and Ville Husso made 18 saves, helping the Ducks bounce back from a 7-0 home loss to the Utah Mammoth on Wednesday.
Tom Wilson, Ethen Frank, and Aliaksei Protas scored for Washington, who had won six straight games before concluding a four-game road trip. Logan Thompson finished with 35 saves, and Anthony Beauvillier scored Washington's only shootout goal.
Golden Knights 3, Devils 0
Akira Schmid made 24 saves to earn his second shutout of the season as the Vegas Golden Knights defeated the New Jersey Devils in Newark, N.J. This marked Schmid’s third career shutout and a career-high 10th win of the season. Facing his former team for the first time, Schmid, a fifth-round draft pick by New Jersey in 2018, had spent three seasons with the Devils from 2021 to 2024.
Shea Theodore contributed a goal and an assist, Jack Eichel added two assists, and Tomas Hertl and Ivan Barbashev also scored for Vegas, who won their third consecutive game. Jacob Markstrom made 22 saves for New Jersey, who dropped their fourth straight.
Mammoth 4, Canucks 1
Karel Vejmelka stopped 31 of 32 shots as Utah defeated host Vancouver. Kevin Stenlund and Mikhail Sergachev each tallied a goal and an assist, while Nick Schmaltz and John Marino also scored for the Mammoth, who won their second straight game following a four-game losing streak.
Arshdeep Bains scored for Vancouver, with Kevin Lankinen making 14 saves. The Canucks opened a four-game homestand with their fourth consecutive loss.
Jets 4, Sabres 1
Eric Comrie made 34 saves as Winnipeg defeated visiting Buffalo. Kyle Connor, Tanner Pearson, and Cole Koepke scored for the Jets, who recorded only their second win in eight games.
