The Olympic torch made its way through central Italy, taking in the sights and sounds of Sermoneta and Cassino on Saturday (December 27).
After being lit last month in ancient Olympia, the Greek home of the ancient Games, and handed over to Italian Games organisers in early December, the torch set off from Rome’s historic Stadio dei Marmi on December 6.
The relay will span around 12,000km (7,450 miles), passing through all 110 Italian provinces and more than 300 municipalities in the build up to the 2026 Winter Olympics, which will be co-hosted by Milan and the Dolomite resort of Cortina d'Ampezzo and run from February 6-22, with the Paralympics to follow in March.
On Saturday (December 28), the flame will resume its journey, passing from Avellino to Potenza.
