Diogo Jota's two sons will serve as mascots at Anfield when Liverpool faces Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Premier League on Saturday, The Times reported.

The Portuguese forward, who played for both Premier League clubs, tragically died in a car crash alongside his younger brother in July in northwestern Spain. He was 28 years old.

Liverpool did not immediately respond to a request for confirmation from Reuters, which was sent outside normal UK business hours.

Jota joined Wolves on loan from Atletico Madrid in 2017 and made a permanent move the following year. He later signed a five-year contract with Liverpool in 2020, where he helped the club win the Premier League title earlier this year.

Saturday's match will be the first meeting between Liverpool and Wolves since Jota's passing.

Jota's wife, Rute Cardoso, and their two sons, Dinis and Duarte, attended the Premier League home openers for both Liverpool and Wolves in August.
