MUNICH, Germany – Bayern Munich’s pursuit of a historic treble is far from over, according to coach Vincent Kompany, after his team clinched the Bundesliga title with four matches remaining.

The Bavarians opened up a commanding 15-point lead at the top of the league with a 4-2 victory over VfB Stuttgart. Despite the dominant win, celebrations were subdued, as Bayern remains in the hunt for two more major trophies this season.

Bayern now face Bayer Leverkusen in the German Cup semi-final on Wednesday before heading to Paris St Germain for their Champions League semi-final first leg on April 28.

“The season is not over yet. There are still things to be won,” Kompany said after securing his second consecutive league title. “PSG in the Champions League, the defending champions, is probably the toughest challenge. But before that, we have Leverkusen.”

"I don’t want to stop here. Now come the decisive weeks. We're looking forward to them, but we also know how difficult it will be. Our belief is there, and that's worth a lot in football."

Bayern's last Champions League win came in 2020, the same year they reached their last German Cup final in Berlin. Kompany, who took over from Thomas Tuchel in 2024, has quickly restored Bayern’s domestic dominance, securing back-to-back Bundesliga titles.

Under Kompany, Bayern have set several records in the Bundesliga, including most goals scored in a single season, but the team is eager to add a seventh European Cup to their trophy collection.

“We will have enough time to celebrate what we have achieved, but now it is about what we can still achieve, so we need full focus,” Kompany emphasized.

"The players have to recover and prepare for the game against Leverkusen. But you can have a glass of red wine in the evening and go to work tomorrow. That’s what it will be like for us. We will celebrate, but obviously not really today," he added.
