Humanoid robotics commanded a lot of attention at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, Nevada on Tuesday (January 6), the first day the annual technology show opened to the public.

Several companies showcased humanoid robots, including models that dance, systems capable of selecting items in stores and stocking shelves, solutions designed to assist with healthcare and reduce loneliness, and even one that deals Blackjack.

"I think it's great," said CES attendee Megan Wendling. "I'd love to have one in my house to make my beds and clean up after me."

As robots advance in technology, there's also a lot of discussion of how and where they'll fit into the world.

"It's going to be great for the world," said CES attendee Sarthak Tiwary. "It's going to add a lot of value. But it's going to create some unemployment for a while. But at the same time it's going to increase a lot of employment globally."

Although many stopped to marvel at the inventions, not everyone was impressed.

"I think there's been no great leaps of technology that I've seen in years past," another CES attendee said.
