Danish toymaker Lego unveiled an interactive Lego brick and a new line of Star Wars sets incorporating the Smart Brick at CES 2026 in Las Vegas on Monday (January 5).
The Smart Brick is shaped like a regular Lego brick and can be used with existing sets, but interacts with other bricks and tags to produce sound and reaction using sensors, accelerometers, light sensing, a sound sensor and a small built-in microphone.
It can tell how far it is from another Smart Brick and how fast it is moving through the air.
"It's got tremendous amounts of intelligence, technology, ability, that's packed all into a tiny silicon chip that's actually smaller than one of the studs," Julia Goldin, Lego's chief marketing and product officer, said at a news conference as part of the consumer electronics trade show.
The launch includes Smart Minifigures, which interact to unlock reactions and secret minigames, according to a Lego news release.
In partnership with The Walt Disney Company, Lego also unveiled a new line of Star Wars sets with figures, vehicles and locales.
"For over 25 years, Star Wars and the LEGO Group have worked together to bring the galaxy to life in fun and unique ways. And now the galaxy will finally play back," said Asad Ayaz, Disney's chief brand officer.
The Lego Smart Brick Star Wars sets will launch on March 1 in select markets,
