The Senate on Tuesday, honored the achievement of Filipino e-sports athletes following their victory at the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) M7 World Championship.
The chamber unanimously adopted Resolution No. 34, commending Philippine team Aurora Gaming PH for clinching the title at the international tournament held recently in Indonesia, filed by Senator Bam Aquino.
Demonstrating exceptional skill, teamwork, and discipline, the team -- composed of Edward "Edward" Dapadap, Jonard "Demonkite" Caranto, Kennetth "Yue" Tadeo, Jan "Domeng" Del Mundo, and Dylan "Light" Poblete Catipon -- defeated Indonesian team Alter Ego via a decisive 4-0 sweep in the best-of-seven Grand Finals.
In his Senate Resolution No. 276, which was adopted by the Senate, Aquino recognized Aurora Gaming PH’s talent and teamwork for securing the world title.
“Aurora Gaming PH's victory underscored the strength and global competitiveness of Philippine esports, further cementing the Philippines' reputation as a world leader in Mobile Legends: Bang Bang,” said Aquino, a staunch supporter of Filipino esports athletes.
“Filipino teams have achieved an unprecedented feat by winning every iteration of the M World Championship since the M2 World Championship in 2020, demonstrating sustained excellence, discipline, and global competitiveness in professional esports,” he added.
Aquino, chairperson of the Senate Committee on Science and Technology, hopes Aurora Gaming PH’s historic achievement serves as an inspiration to Filipino youth and aspiring esports athletes, “proving that dedication, discipline, and teamwork can lead to success at the highest level of international competition.”
The Senator helped establish the Philippine Esports Association (PeSPA) to strengthen the foundation of esports in the country, look after the welfare of cyber athletes and stakeholders, and promote esports in the country.
He is also an ardent backer of the video game development industry in the Philippines because of its tremendous potential to create new employment opportunities for Filipinos.
