New sculpture evoking lost Bamiyan Buddhas rises above New York's High Line
A 27-foot Buddha sculpture evoking the destroyed Bamiyan Buddhas of Afghanistan has risen above New York's High Line. Artist Tuan Andrew Nguyen used Vietnamese sandstone and brass from Afghan artillery shells to create "The Light That Shines Through the Universe." The work explores loss, memory, and reincarnation.
