Aiko Melendez, Onemig Bondoc make relationship 'official' on Valentine’s Day

Actress and politician Aiko Melendez and former T.G.I.S. actor and businessman Onemig Bondoc have made it official. 

Aiko and Onemig have confirmed their romantic relationship in a much-awaited YouTube video posted on Valentine’s Day. The latest video uploaded on Aiko Melendez’s channel marked their second sit-down interview.

The second vlog, which was more casual and relaxed, saw Onemig teasing the actress, calling her “Miss Aiko.” Despite the banter, the closeness between them was clear, showing that their bond had deepened since the first interview.

Aiko and Onemig have been life-long friends for 29 years, long before romance entered the picture. They revealed that they reconnected eight months ago, keeping in touch everyday  through phone calls and messages.

When Onemig returned from the United States, they didn’t rush to meet. Their first in-person reunion only happened during the first interview. They settled family matters first and made sure their loved ones supported their relationship. Onemig even met Aiko’s pastor.

The couple also spoke about the role of faith. Unlike in their previous relationships, where their only priority was love, they said they learned from past experiences. Now, they want to make God the center of  their relationship.

Aiko, now in her 50s, and Onemig at 48, both admitted experiencing a different feeling when they shared to the public their relationship status at this stage in their lives. 

Some doubted if it would last and others questioned their intentions, but they said they trust and fully accept each other. Aiko and Onemig even reassured that even their past relationships will not affect their bond.

Shortly after announcing their relationship,  they began calling each other “hon” and “honey.”

Onemig happily expressed his feelings, “Yes! We are officially together. Sorry, may nanalo na. Isang hamak na businessman, na nagmamahal sa’yo ng tapat.” 

He described himself as a simple man who loves her sincerely and considered her as his endgame.  Aiko then replied saying she considered Onemig her ‘destiny.’ Onemig proclaimed, “We’re gonna take care of this relationship” to which Aiko agreed.

When Onemig asked Aiko why she decided to pursue the relationship, Aiko answered, “Ayaw ko na makipagkilala kung kani‑kanino at least ikaw kilala na kita. Alam ko kung paano ka mag-isip, minsan iniisip mo pa lang alam ko na sasabihin mo. 

She added, "Alam ko kung nagtatampo ka, kapag nagseselos ka. Alam ko mahal mo ako. Saka inaalagaan mo talaga ako.” 

The couple consider each other as soulmates because their connection feels natural. Aiko mentioned that they have never worked together, even though they have been in the same industry for decades. 

Despite this, they still formed a strong friendship. In a recent post on her Instagram account, Aiko uploaded photos of them happy together  and expressed  her appreciation to Onemig.

In a previous interview, Aiko asked Onemig if he was willing to make a comeback in the showbiz industry. The former actor said no but clarified that he was not closing his doors.  He added that if he ever does make a comeback, he would like to do it with Aiko.

The vlog, filmed at Haya Nature Resort under the direction of Ronald Guyo, left fans eager for what’s next. Aiko teased that they have something ‘big,’ but didn’t elaborate any further.
