Three years after its premiere on February 13, 2023, FPJ's Batang Quiapo is entering its final chapter, with its last three weeks in television.
The long-running primetime action drama will air its finale on Friday, March 13, 2026.
In a recent interview as the series approaches its concluding weeks, Primetime King Coco Martin revealed that the production has prepared major surprises for the final episodes. He described the final stretch as “unexpected,” assuring longtime viewers that the ending was carefully crafted to leave a lasting impact.
While Batang Quiapo prepares to sign off, Coco Martin is already set to begin a new project. The actor confirmed that he will reunite with his longtime real-life partner, Filipino actress Julia Montes, in the upcoming television series Sigabo, which is scheduled to premiere on Monday, March 16, 2026, in the evening time slot.
Despite admitting that he wanted to take a break after years of continuous work, the Primetime King said he eventually chose to continue, considering his commitment to his team and loyal viewers.
“Unang-una kinu-konsidera ko iyong mga tao na mawawalan ng trabaho. Kasi sabi ko nga kung ako ang tatanungin, gusto ko sanang magpahinga, gusto ko sanang huminga lang, mag-isip-isip. Pero paano iyong mga katrabaho ko? Ilan iyong mga taong naghihintay sa'yo na nakasanayan ka na, napapanood ka nila sa kanilang mga tahanan. Ayaw ko silang malungkot, ayaw ko silang biguin,” he shared.
Celebrity couple Coco Martin, 44 and Julia Montes, 30 have previously worked together in the hit series Walang Hanggan (2012) and Ikaw Lamang (2014), as well as the 2013 romantic drama film A Moment in Time. Julia also joined FPJ's Ang Probinsyano.
According to Coco, Sigabo will differ significantly from the heavy, action-driven tone of Batang Quiapo. The new series will feature a lighter, more comedic approach and adopt an episodic format, presenting different stories each week to offer viewers a fresh experience.
“Naghihintay ako ng right project para sa pagsasama namin ni Juls. Talagang hinanda ko ito para sa kanya,” he said, adding that Montes has been undergoing intensive training and preparation for her role, also the rest of the cast, as production ramps up for its highly anticipated premiere.
The finale of Batang Quiapo also highlights the series’ achievements. On February 21, Coco Martin was awarded Best Actor at the Philippine Arts, Films, and Television Awards (PFTA) for his performance, while the series itself was honored as Best Drama Series.
