This year's Valentine’s Day got an unexpected twist. Singer-songwriter Bruno Mars celebrated Valentine's Day by giving back to his fans through a creative sneak peek at his upcoming album, ‘The Romantic’.
Bruno Mars, 40, partnered with local flower shops and gave out 150 free rose bouquets across the United States. Each arrangement reflected his upcoming album’s branding, turning a traditional gesture of love into a creative, music-themed surprise.
The Romantic marks Bruno Mars’ return as a solo artist a decade after 24K Magic in 2016. His previous album was with with Anderson .Paak as the duo Silk Sonic.
The album, set for release on February 27 under Atlantic Records, contains nine tracks. Mars’ lead single, I Just Might, debuted at number one on the Billboard Hot 100 after its January 9 release. The song blends Bruno Mars’ signature mix of funk, pop, and R&B, giving fans a taste of the album’s overall vibe.
Even the album’s artwork ties in to the romantic theme. The official poster of the album was used as the bouquet cover that features a black-and-white illustrated portrait of Bruno Mars, surrounded by red roses that come to life.
It was on his official Instagram account that Bruno Mars first shared photos of his customized red rose bouquets. These were created in partnership with local shops in the U.S.
Fans from Brazil also paid homage to Bruno Mars through clips they made. In a series of posts, Bruno Mars shared reels from different accounts featuring a giant Carnival doll that resembled him from his I Just Might music video.
A caption posted by a Bruno Mars fan page, written in Portuguese, translates to: “The artist is one of the honorees of the Pernambuco Carnival and was paraded through the streets of the historic site this Sunday. The doll, with a look inspired by the #IJustMight music video, will be paraded again tomorrow (16th) and on Tuesday (17th). Now you can come celebrate Carnival with us, huh @brunomars?”
In the video, people danced, sang, and enjoyed the festive celebration. The final clip captured a crowd singing one of Bruno Mars’ hits, Locked Out of Heaven.
Incidentally, Bruno Mars, who's real name is Peter Gene Hernandez, is of Filipino and Puerto-Rican ancestry. According to medium.com, his father hailed from Puerto Rico while his mother was from Cebu, Philippines.
