Filipino actor and businessman David Licauco has proven he’s more than just someone who has strong screen presence.

The Pambansang Ginoo recently ventured into the world of competitive fitness, participating in his first indoor training competition, Hyrox, in Taipei, Taiwan.

Last Sunday, March 1, the event challenged nearly 2,000 participants with a mix of running and functional exercises such as rowing, burpees, and kettlebell lifts.

David came out as the top Filipino finisher,  completing the course in 1 hour, 7 minutes and 48 seconds (1:07:48), ranking 55th overall and 19th in his 30–34 age group.

He revealed that although he has been training physically throughout his life, he never had a specific goal to aim for. Participating in the Hyrox competition gave him a clear objective and renewed motivation, bringing out his competitive drive like never before.

Despite dedicating only a month and a half to focused training, David embraced the physical challenge. He also admitted that his biggest hurdle was his “lack of knowledge” about the sport, saying that this was where he struggled the most.

Looking ahead, David plans to continue his training in preparation for the Hong Kong leg of Hyrox this May, where he will compete in the doubles category. He plans to participate in the solo open division as well to challenge himself further.

Aside from his fitness pursuits, the Never Say Die star previously shared that he plans to build a resort in Siargao. In addition, David currently manages several businesses, including Kuya Korea and Sobra Café. He is also exploring locations for another restaurant, considering either Tomas Morato in Manila or San Juan as potential sites.
