Jumanji star Dwayne Johnson shared a touching dedication post to co-star Danny DeVito after Devito completed filming on the highly anticipated third installment of the Jumanji franchise.

On February 17, Hollywood actor and former professional wrestler Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson, 53,  took to social media to mark the chapter and posted behind‑the‑scene photos of veteran actor and filmmaker  DeVito, 81, alongside him and fellow co‑star and comedian Kevin Hart.

Johnson wrote, “That’s an official Jumanji wrap on the one and only, Danny DeVito. To work with you, and learn from you has been an honor  and to call you my friend will always be a privilege.”

He thanked DeVito for his ‘anchoring heart and joy’ to the franchise, even reminding him to, “keep smiling and please keep exfoliating the top of your head.”

However, Johnson’s heartfelt post unintentionally caused some confusion to others. Many fans mistakenly thought that DeVito had passed away, especially because the first photo in the post was in black and white.

One fan commented, “Why did I think he passed away?” and many others replied that they had thought the same.

The  third installment  is shaping up as a major event for fans of the adventure-comedy franchise. It marks the third film in the modern continuation series, following Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle (2017) and Jumanji: The Next Level (2019). The original Jumanji (1995) was led by the late Robin Williams.

DeVito returns as Edward “Eddie” Gilpin, grandfather of Spencer Gilpin, played by Alex Wolff. The role first appeared in Jumanji: The Next Level. Viewers might remember one of the more memorable scenes in that movie where  Johnson’s character, Dr. Smolder Bravestone, became Eddie’s in‑game avatar.

Jake Kasdan returns as director for the new franchise, which also features many fan-favorite cast members reprising their roles. The returning cast members include Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart, Jack Black, Karen Gillan, Nick Jonas and Danny DeVito.

The film is expected to be released on December 11, 2026, making it a major draw for the holiday season.
