American actress and singer Kristen Bell, 45, will be the voice of Amy Rose, the iconic pink hedgehog from the SEGA franchise Sonic the Hedgehog.


 The When in Rome star was reported as officially onboard by the Hollywood Reporter.


The news was also shared by Sonic voice actor and comedian Ben Schwartz, 44, on Instagram, where he celebrated  Kristen Bell’s addition to the project with a photo of  two holding mini figurines of their characters.


“WE HAVE OUR AMY ROSE!!! And I could not be more excited!!!Please welcome the incredible @kristenanniebell to the @sonicmovie family!!!” Schwartz wrote.


Sonic the Hedgehog 4 continues the live-action film series, with American director Jeff Fowler returning to lead the film. Bell joins returning voice actors  Schwartz as Sonic, Idris Elba as Knuckles, and Keanu Reeves as Shadow.


The film builds on a mid-credits tease from Sonic the Hedgehog 3, in which Amy Rose made a brief appearance while battling an army of Metal Sonics.


When it comes to voice acting, Bell has an extensive list of credentials. Her most notable voice role to date is Anna, whom she portrayed in Disney’s Frozen (2013) and Frozen II (2019). 


As reported by Variety news, Bell has confirmed that production on Frozen 3 is moving forward, with her set to reprise the role. She has also voiced characters in video games and lent her voice and likeness to the Assassin’s Creed series.


Additionally, she has contributed voice work to animated films such as The Cat Returns, Zootopia, and PAW Patrol: The Mighty Movie, among others.


Aside from Sonic the Hedgehog 4 and Frozen 3, Bell remains active in television. She stars in the Netflix romantic comedy series “Nobody Wants This”, which has been renewed for a third season scheduled to return later this year. 


The show and its cast received nominations for Best Comedy Series, with Bell nominated for Best Actress and Adam Brody, 46,  for Best Actor.


Meanwhile, Kristen Bell recently shared on her Instagram that she will host the Actors Awards on Netflix on March 1.
