Jayda Avanzado thanked her supporters after her cover of Katy Perry’s “Thinking of You” reached 10.8 million views, despite mixed reactions online.

“Thank you guys for all the engagement and 10.8 million views across all platforms,” she wrote in a post on Wednesday, April 29.

The cover sparked different feedback from netizens. Some pointed out its airy tone, while others criticized her delivery, saying she sounded breathless or “gasping for air.” A few also commented on her pronunciation, pointing out her emphasis on the letter “h,” with some joking that it should be “breathing of you” instead of “thinking of you.”

Jayda, 22, later responded by sharing the full version of her cover and acknowledging the comments. “Ito na nakapag-nebulizer na po. Dahil diyan, ito na yung full cover,” she wrote, referring to the feedback on her vocals. She also updated her TikTok profile photo to an image of herself using a nebulizer.

Other listeners defended her rendition, describing it as having an acoustic style similar to the original version of the song. Some said it reflected her interpretation of the track and noted its emotional delivery. She also previously covered the same song in 2025.

“Thinking of You,” originally released by Katy Perry in 2008 on her debut album "One of the Boys", is a soft rock ballad about longing and heartbreak.

Jayda, daughter of OPM singers Jessa Zaragoza and Dingdong Avanzado, began her music career in 2018 with her debut EP “In My Room.” 

Her first single, “Text,” was written when she was just 12 years old. She later followed it up with tracks like “Paano Kung Naging Tayo", "Happy For You” and “M.U. (Malabong Usapan),” building her presence in the OPM scene.

She has received various awards including the 2019 Awit Award for Best New Female Recording Artist and the 2022 PMPC Star Awards for Music-- Female Pop Artist of the Year.

Jayda has also branched into acting, starring in the 2023 Wattpad adaptation series “Teen Clash” as Zoe David.

The singer-actress currently stars as Lorelei Rios in the television adaptation of the Wattpad mystery-thriller "Project Loki," alongside Dylan Menor and Marco Gallo. 

Her latest song for the series “Babala,” serves as part of the official soundtrack,  while she and Menor also collaborated on the track “Sigurado.”
