Netizens are praising former beauty queen and actress Lara Quigaman after she finally embraced her naturally gray hair after dying it for years.

In her latest Instagram post on Wednesday, May 19, Quigaman, 43, shared a video showing her gray strands and said she is finally “ready to let go,” admitting she’s tired of constantly covering them up.

She revealed that she first noticed having gray strands at age 12. She has been dyeing her hair about every two weeks since her early thirties.  It was a genetic trait because her father also went gray early.

“I’m finally letting go of ‘perfection’ and embracing my God-given white hair,” she declared, describing it as part of aging and inheritance rather than something to hide. “So call me lola or grandma, it’s okay… I’m going to try and rock this white hair.”

While she admitted it won’t always be easy and that she still has moments of wanting to cover it again, she said she’s posting publicly to give herself “courage” and even invited others to join her on the journey. “Finally, I’m embracing my whites,” she concluded.

Her post received messages of support from friends in the entertainment industry, including actresses Dimples Romana and Camille Prats. Prats even commented on Quigaman’s post, saying, “You are amazing!! My whites are starting to show and I’m contemplating whether I should dye or not. This is so inspiring.”

On Mother's Day, Quigaman shared for the first time a photo of herself with partially gray hair with her three children. In her post, she reflected on the hardships and blessings of motherhood.

Quigaman is currently based in Canada with her husband, actor Marco Alcaraz, and their three sons. She works as a preschool teacher.

Quigaman won the Miss International title in 2005, making her the fourth Filipina to bring home the crown. Her last television appearance was in "Batang Quiapo" where she played young Tindeng.
