Actress Yassi Pressman has just expanded her resumé as she adds film and television production to her list of accomplishments. Yassi recently co-produced the upcoming game show “Tubig to Handle” and the film “Little Hope.” She shares how both projects came together and what audiences can expect.
As someone who has worked with many actor-producers through the years, Yassi was inspired to take on the role herself. “And sa totoo lang po, hindi ko po siya in-expect,” she admitted.
The opportunity came naturally to her when the idea for a game show was developed. “Ang tagal nang walang game show ha? Siguro masaya kapag meron kahit sinong pwedeng maglaro sa tubig.”
The concept eventually became “Tubig to Handle,” which was filmed at the CamSur Watersports Complex in Camarines Sur. Yassi, 31, described the location as “very convenient” because the location had everything a TV production needs including sports facilities, recreational water activities, offices, and nearby hospitals, making logistics easier for the team.
She also wanted to showcase the beauty of the Siruma area, which director Eric Quizon compared to New Zealand due to its mountains and sea views.
Yassi clarified that the game show was not a solo project but a co-production with partners. She said the team enjoyed working on the show and hopes viewers will enjoy it as well. The program features challenges such as “putik limbo,” “sink or spell,” and water-based tug-of-war games.
Prospective contestants came from all over, including Manila, and went through online auditions. Celebrities also participated in some episodes.
Aside from co-producing, Yassi is also a host alongside Marco Gumabao, Danita Paner, TJ Valderama and Zia Mercado.
Yassi said the team had a great time filming, although producing turned out to be “much harder than acting.” Still, she found it fulfilling to see the idea grow from a simple concept into a full production, which she described as a “dream come true.”
Yassi can be strict as a producer but she also makes sure the set is fun and organized. She does not like wasting other people’s time and ensures everyone on set, especially the crew, are treated fairly. “Kunwari nasa arawan tayo. There’s consideration for everyone.”
"Tubig to Handle" premieres this coming May 23 and 24 and will air every weekend. Meanwhile, Yassi’s second co-produced project is the film “Little Hope,” a heartwarming yet heartbreaking story about a child battling cancer.
The film’s young lead, Kylie, will be the child actress’ first movie. “Out of 65 po na mga nag-audition po na mga bata, siya po iyong nag excel,” she explained. Yassi appealed to viewers to support the young actress.
She clarified that this project is separate from Viva Entertainment and is a personal production. At the moment, the team is focused on casting, scouting for locations, and developing the story.
