Lily Collins to play Audrey Hepburn in a film about Breakfast at Tiffany’s

Lily Collins is ready to wear the little black dress. 

The Emily in Paris star will play Audrey Hepburn in a new film centered on the making of the 1961 classic Breakfast at Tiffany's.

The upcoming film will explore the behind-the-scenes story of the romantic comedy and its lasting cultural influence. According to Variety, Collins is involved as a producer in the film, which is adapted from Sam Wasson’s book Fifth Avenue, 5 A.M.: Audrey Hepburn, Breakfast at Tiffany’s and the Dawn of the Modern Woman.

Directed by Blake Edwards and adapted from Truman Capote’s 1958 novella, Breakfast at Tiffany’s starred Hepburn  as the charming Holly Golightly, the role that redefined the Hollywood leading lady and cemented Hepburn's status in the fashion history.

Collins, 36, confirmed the news on Instagram and expressed her deep admiration for Hepburn. “It’s with almost 10 years of development and a lifetime of admiration and adoration for Audrey that I’m finally able to share this,” she wrote, adding that she feels both “honored and ecstatic.”

The British American actress also tagged the production company she co-founded, Case Study Films, which is collaborating with Imagine Entertainment to produce the movie.

The Hollywood Reporter notes that the screenplay is being written by Alena Smith, creator of the Apple TV+ series Dickinson. The director has yet to be named.

Netflix’s Emily in Paris, which catapulted Collins' career, returned for its fifth season last December.  The show has been renewed for a sixth season. 

She is also expected to star in a live‑action Polly Pocket film being developed by Amazon MGM Studios in partnership with Mattel Studios and Reese Witherspoon's company Hello Sunshine.

Collins is also known for her movies including Mirror Mirror and Love, Rosie. She is the daughter of British rock legend Phil Collins.
