Neve Campbell had no regrets.

Years after her decision, Campbell says leaving the franchise that made her famous was still the right choice. The Canadian actress remains firm in walking away from the franchise that established her career and turned her into a horror icon.

In a recent appearance on CBS Mornings, Campbell, 52, addressed her choice to sit out Scream VI, stating that the compensation offered did not align with her value to the long-running horror series.

The decision earlier had sparked a broader discussion about pay equity in Hollywood. “When I made that decision, I just didn’t think I could live with myself walking on set,” Campbell said.

“It didn’t feel right. I just knew that my value to this franchise was bigger than what had been offered. And so for me, I needed to make that choice.”

Campbell admitted the move could permanently end her involvement in the franchise. “When I said goodbye, I thought that was it,” she said.

In hindsight, she added,  “I was sad, but at the same time, I knew my decision was right.”

The morning program also featured a clip from the original Scream, showing her character, Sydney Prescott, in an intense confrontation with the main antagonist, Ghostface.

Campbell first announced in 2022 that she would not return as Sydney Prescott in Scream VI. She called it a difficult decision, thanking fans who had supported her since the franchise’s early days.

Now, Campbell is back for Scream 7. The film has already begun screening in the Philippines, with wider releases across the country on Friday, February 27.
