More than a decade after their record-breaking fight, Manny “Pac-Man” Pacquiao and Floyd “Money” Mayweather Jr. are set for a highly anticipated rematch on September 19, 2026.
Billed as Pacquiao vs. Mayweather II, the match will be streamed live worldwide on Netflix. This will be the first professional boxing match at the Sphere in Las Vegas, Nevada at this scale.
Pacquiao, 47 and Mayweather, 49 first squared off in 2015 in what was billed as the “Fight of the Century.” In the report from news website MMA Fighting, the bout shattered records with over 4.4 million pay-per-view buys and generated over $400 million in total revenue, including over $72 million live gate receipts at the MGM Grand Garden Arena.
The match ended without a knockdown and Mayweather won the fight by unanimous decision, handing Pacquiao one of the few defeats of his illustrious boxing career.
In a statement released alongside the rematch announcement, Pacquiao said the fight is dedicated to fans worldwide who have waited years to see them back in the ring, as reported by Variety Australia.
“The fans have waited long enough—they deserve this rematch, and it will be even bigger now that it will be streamed live globally on Netflix. As always, I dedicate this fight to my fellow Filipinos around the world and to bringing glory to the Philippines.”
“I want Floyd to live with the one loss on his professional record and always remember who gave it to him,” Pacquiao said.
Mayweather, meanwhile, maintained his confidence, saying he has already beaten Pacquiao once and expects “the same result” this time.
Now both in their late forties, the two boxing legends return under very different circumstances. Mayweather has not fought professionally since defeating Conor McGregor in 2017, though he has participated in several exhibition bouts since then.
Meanwhile, Pacquiao retired temporarily from boxing in 2021 to focus on politics and pursued a presidential bid in the Philippines. He made his first professional comeback in 2025 when he fought Mexican-American Mario Barrios to a majority draw.
The rematch also highlights Netflix’s growing focus on live sports, featuring major boxing events like Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson, Katie Taylor vs. Amanda Serrano 3, and Canelo Álvarez vs. Terence Crawford. Netflix's global reach drew massive global audiences to these events.
