A government office building in Kuwait City was targeted in a drone attack, the Kuwaiti army said on Sunday (March 8).
Fuel storage tanks belonging to Kuwait International Airport were also targeted in a drone attack, the army said.
The government building, housing the headquarters of the Public Institution for Social Security, was still smouldering on Sunday morning as firefighters extinguished the blaze that engulfed the structure earlier in the night.
Israel and Iran traded numerous attacks on Saturday as the U.S.-Israeli war against Iran entered a second week.
The governments of Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates reported Iranian drone attacks in their countries on Saturday (March 7) and early Sunday with varying degrees of damage.
Iran's president Masoud Pezeshkian had on Saturday (March 7) apologized to neighbouring states for its attacks on U.S. facilities in those countries, to cool anger across the Gulf, urging them not to join U.S.-Israeli attacks on Iran.
