President Donald Trump on Tuesday (April 28) recalled his late mother's admiration for the British royal family during remarks at the White House, saying she had been "glued to the television" whenever the late Queen Elizabeth appeared in ceremonies.

"My mother, I just see it so clearly. She loved, I told the King this, she loved the royal family and she loved the Queen. And any time the queen was involved in a ceremony or anything, my mother would be glued to the television and she'd say, 'Look, Donald, look how beautiful that is,'" Trump said.

Britain's King Charles arrived at the White House on Tuesday for a meeting with Trump, as part of a state visit intended to underscore unity between the two longtime allies, despite deep divisions over the Iran war.
