DUBAI — An Iranian drone and missile attack struck Kuwait International Airport early Wednesday, causing injuries and forcing authorities to divert flights, Kuwait's state news agency reported.
The attack inflicted "severe damage" on the airport's Terminal 1 (T1) building, according to the report, which cited the country's General Civil Aviation Authority.
The U.S. military earlier reported that two Iranian missiles fired at Kuwait either fell short or broke apart en route. Additionally, three missiles launched at Bahrain were successfully intercepted by U.S. and Bahraini forces.
U.S. Central Command added that while Iran launched ballistic missiles toward several regional neighbors, all failed to hit their intended targets.
In response to the attempted attacks, U.S. forces conducted retaliatory strikes on Qeshm Island, successfully neutralizing multiple Iranian ballistic missiles and drones.
