Storm Therese left collapsed roads and stranded residents in some neighbourhoods of Spain's island of Gran Canaria on Monday (March 23)
Therese has been hitting the Canary Islands archipelago over the weekend, causing flooding, closed roads and even snow at Tenerife's Teide volcano.
"We've been four days stranded, with just a few gaps to get out of town because at night it's been raining a lot. So we are waiting this storm to leave because we all want rain but not this way because we are stranded," said local resident Mesalina Hernandez.
Gran Canaria authorities said they are spending more than four million euros in emergency repairs to the worst-affected roads.
Spain's Weather Agency (AEMET) issued alerts of 'significant risk' throughout the rest of Monday in the islands of Tenerife, La Gomera and El Hierro.
