Two Pakistani vessels that were stationed and waiting to transit through the Strait of Hormuz have successfully crossed, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said on Thursday (April 2).
Sharif credited the Deputy Prime Minister and Field Marshal for facilitating the safe passage of the two ships. He added that arrangements had been made for 20 more vessels to sail under the Pakistani flag in recent days.
The prime minister also announced that Pakistan had rolled out oil subsidies worth 129 billion rupees ($462.53 million) to its citizens over the last three weeks, saying the federal government had provided blanket coverage on oil prices during that period.
Sharif called for the adoption of austerity and conservation measures to counter the economic fallout from the Iran war, adding that such steps were already being implemented effectively to protect orphans, widows, the poor and laborer.
