The Embassy of Spain and the Instituto Cervantes and its Cultural and Education Offices announced that life-size reproductions of some of the spectacular works of artist Joaquín Sorolla will be displayed in the Ayala-Greenbelt underground tunnel in Makati City starting in the third week of January.

Sorolla (1863–1923)  is a Spanish painter who is known for portraits and landscapes with historical and social themes.

In a press release, the embassy said the goal is "for passersby to experience the sharp contrasts of light and shade, brilliant colours and vigorous brushstrokes that caracterize the paintings of the artist celebrated as the 'Master of Light.'"

The exhibit —  "Sorolla: A Walk through the Light" is a collaboration among the Museo Sorolla, Fundación Museo Sorolla, Ayala Museum, Makati City Government and MACEA.

The embassy said, "A selfie or two with these paintings will be worth a post on Facebook and it may even give anyone a chance to win a piece that most delights a passerby as the Embassy of Spain may raffle off one of these reproductions."

Meanwhile, the embassy also announced another event, a talk featuring Filipino artist Brisa Amir and her Spanish counterpart Cristina Gamón, at the Casa Azul in Intramuros on January 27.

The artists will talk about how they bring their visions to life. Their exhibit entitled "A dash, a colon" will run from January 26 to March 28.
