Max Fried delivered a dominant performance on the mound, pitching six scoreless innings to lead the New York Yankees to a 4-2 victory over the Texas Rangers in Arlington, Texas, on Monday. The Yankees' victory, which marked their ninth in the past 10 games, was powered by three home runs from Ben Rice, Aaron Judge, and Jazz Chisholm Jr.

Fried (4-1) allowed just four hits and struck out five, three of which came against Corey Seager. The left-hander also walked two batters and extended his impressive run of scoreless starts this season, marking his fourth. Fried was supported by solid defense, including two double plays initiated by shortstop Jose Caballero, who turned critical outs in the first and sixth innings. Fried also recorded his major-league-best 38th career pickoff, catching Josh Jung off guard in the fourth inning.

Offensively, the Yankees capitalized on the long ball. Rice opened the scoring with a two-run homer in the third inning, sending a first-pitch fastball from Texas starter Jack Leiter (1-2) over the left-field fence. It was Rice's sixth home run in his last 11 games. Judge followed with a solo shot on a full-count curveball, marking his eighth homer in 15 games and tying him briefly with Yordan Alvarez and Munetaka Murakami for the major league lead. Judge’s blast came just ahead of Murakami's 12th homer later in the evening.

Chisholm extended the Yankees' lead to 4-0 with a first-pitch slider into the right-field seats in the fourth inning. The second baseman has been on a power surge, hitting three home runs in his last five games after going 23 games without one.

Leiter, who was tagged for all four Yankee runs, gave up eight hits and struck out four over six innings. He tied a career high by surrendering three home runs during the outing.

Texas managed to fight back in the later innings. Joc Pederson, pinch-hitting in the seventh, connected for a solo home run off Camilo Doval, bringing the Rangers to within 4-1. In the ninth, Alejandro Osuna's RBI single off David Bednar cut the Yankees' lead to 4-2, but Bednar closed out the game, earning his eighth save of the season.

Despite the loss, Texas was unable to overcome a tough performance from Fried and the Yankees' explosive offense. With the win, New York improved to 6-1 on their current nine-game road trip. -Field Level Media/Reuters
