Miami Heat star Bam Adebayo exited Tuesday's play-in game against the host Charlotte Hornets early in the second quarter after taking a hard fall on his backside near the basket.
Adebayo was able to stand up and walk slowly to the locker room for evaluation. He was injured on a play where LaMelo Ball dunked to put the No. 9 seed Hornets ahead 30-26 with 10:58 left in the quarter.
Adebayo had six points and three rebounds before exiting for the 10th-seeded Heat, who are participating in the play-in tournament for the fourth straight season.
The nine-year veteran averaged a double-double during the regular season, putting up 20.1 points and 10.0 rebounds per contest, the latter ranking eighth in the NBA.
