The Brooklyn Nets announced on Monday that they have agreed to multi-year contract extensions with head coach Jordi Fernandez and his entire coaching staff. While the terms of the extensions were not disclosed, the move signals the team's continued commitment to its coaching staff.

Fernandez, a seasoned NBA assistant, has just wrapped up his second season as head coach of the Nets, marking his first stint in the role. Over the past two seasons, under his leadership, Brooklyn has posted a combined record of 46-118 (.280).

Before taking the helm in Brooklyn, Fernandez served as the associate head coach for the Sacramento Kings from 2022 to 2024. He also spent six years as an assistant coach with the Denver Nuggets, from 2016 to 2022, and was a player development and G League coach for the Cleveland Cavaliers from 2009 to 2016.

In the 2025-26 season, the rebuilding Nets finished with the third-worst record in the league, posting a 20-62 mark. Despite their struggles, Brooklyn made significant strides in rebuilding their roster, including an impressive feat of drafting five players in the first round of last year’s NBA draft, a new record for the league.

The Nets now hold the best odds for the No. 1 overall pick in the 2026 NBA Draft, giving them a 40% chance to secure their first top-three pick since 2010.

Looking ahead, Brooklyn is well-positioned for the future, holding a total of 13 first-round picks and 19 second-round picks over the next seven drafts.
