Logan Cooley scored the decisive goal with just six minutes remaining, securing the Utah Mammoth's first-ever playoff victory, 3-2, over the Vegas Golden Knights in Game 2 of their Western Conference first-round series. The victory, which took place on Tuesday in Las Vegas, evened the best-of-seven series at 1-1, setting the stage for the next two games in Salt Lake City, with Game 3 scheduled for Friday.

Cooley found the back of the net on a rebound after a Dylan Guenther shot, sending the puck past Vegas goalie Carter Hart and just inside the left post. This key moment marked the Mammoth's historic playoff win, as the team moves forward in their inaugural postseason run. Guenther contributed with a goal and an assist, while Kailer Yamamoto added two assists, and MacKenzie Weegar also scored for Utah. Goalie Karel Vejmelka made 19 saves, including a crucial stop on a close-range shot by Mark Stone with just five seconds remaining to seal the win.

For Vegas, Stone and Ivan Barbashev each scored, while Jack Eichel picked up two assists. The Golden Knights, who had won Game 1 with a 4-2 comeback victory, suffered their first regulation loss in 10 games (8-1-1) under coach John Tortorella. Hart finished with 26 saves in the loss.

The first period saw a pair of own goals, ending the frame tied at 1-1. Vegas took an early lead at 11:40 of the first period when Stone's cross-crease pass deflected off the skate of Utah defenseman Mikhail Sergachev and into the net for a power-play goal. It was Stone’s 43rd career playoff goal and his sixth in as many games, dating back to the regular season.

Utah responded late in the period when Weegar’s shot from the right point ricocheted off Vegas defenseman Noah Hanifin's stick and Hart’s pads, before bouncing to Rasmus Andersson, who kicked the rebound into the net.

The Mammoth gained a 2-1 lead in the second period thanks to Guenther’s one-timer from the top of the left circle, off a perfect pass from Yamamoto. But just 62 seconds later, Barbashev evened the score with a dazzling backhand goal after intercepting a pass from Sergachev, skating in, and splitting the Utah defense.

With the series now tied at one win apiece, the action will shift to Salt Lake City for Games 3 and 4, as the Mammoth look to continue their historic playoff run.
