David Licauco and Jillian Ward are set to star together for the first time as the lead pair in the upcoming action-drama series "Never Say Die."

During a press conference on January 27, the actor and businessman was asked about his experience working with Jillian Ward as his leading lady for the first time. Licauco had nothing but kind words for the actress.

“Okay naman, she's very nice and smart. Actually, feeling ko hindi alam ng maraming tao na matalino si Jillian na babae,” he said.

The actor added that they often talked between scenes, which helped him to get to know her better. “Every time in between the scenes, nag-uusap talaga kami, we got to talk about life. So yeah, I see that she's a smart girl,” Licauco shared.

Since this marks his first time being paired with Ward, Licauco was also asked whether he had to make adjustments in working with Ward as part of a new love team.

“Syempre different style of acting. Tsaka syempre iba ‘yung dynamics namin ni Barbie before. Definitely iba kay Jillian [dahil] may age gap,” he explained.

Licauco is 31 while Jillian is turning 21 on February 23, based on her profile on the entertainment agency mn@S.

Licauco expressed excitement over portraying a new role as an investigative journalist, offering audiences a glimpse of the intensity and depth he plans to bring to the series.

When asked to describe the dynamic between their characters, Licauco revealed, “Parang aso’t pusa. Then eventually magkaka-develop-an.”

Ward is an actress known for her roles in the series and films My Valentine Girls, Prima Donnas, Abot-Kamay na Pangarap, and more. She is also recognized as the Star of the New Gen.

Joining the cast of Never Say Die are Richard Yap, Raymart Santiago, Angelu De Leon, Kim Ji Soo, Analyn Barro, Winwyn Marquez, and others.

ACCOMPLISHED ACTORS AND ENTREPRENEURS

Both Licacuo and Ward are accomplished actors who have been in the business for more than 10 years.

Ward first started acting in the GMA Network TV series "Trudis Liit" in 2010 when she was only five years old.

Licauco was previously part of the popular “BarDa” love team with actress Barbie Forteza.  The two starred in several hit projects, including the historical fantasy series Maria Clara at Ibarra.  According to the series profile on the Internet Movie Database (IMDB),  the two played the roles of Klay and Fidel

Their partnership continued in the Netflix series Pulang Araw (In the Arms of the Conqueror) and the remake of Maging Sino Ka Man, solidifying their on-screen chemistry across historical, romantic, and contemporary genres.

Meanwhile, Licauco and Ward are also both entrepreneurs. Licauco owns restaurants like Kuya Korea and Sobra Cafe, according to Esquire.ph.

Ward, on the other hand, owns Wonder Tea Philippines in Floridablanca, Pampanga, according to mn2S.
