Donny Pangilinan and Belle Mariano announced that “Tayo Sa Wakas” would be their ‘last for now’ film together.
In the latest episode of “Paano Ba ’To?”, a video podcast hosted by Bianca Gonzalez, on-screen partners Donny and Belle, a.k.a. DonBelle, talked about their characters and themes of their upcoming film.
They said the story reflects their shared experiences of growth and self-discovery as they navigate their personal and professional paths.
As Belle began, “That’s where we are now, Donny and I,” adding that the film reflects their personal journey of self-discovery. For both of them, the story mirrors real life—learning who they are beyond being a pair.
Donny, 28, highlighted that love is not just about being with someone else, but also learning to love yourself first. “And we forget that sometimes.”
He explained that the film emphasizes the importance of not losing yourself in a relationship, noting that two people who are still figuring themselves out can end up struggling instead of truly supporting each other.
Belle, 23, agreed, saying relationships can become difficult when both people are still in the process of understanding themselves.
The actor added that these are the ideas that matter most to them right now as they focus on their own personal and professional paths. He then revealed, “Me and Belle decided that for this specific project, it will be our last DonBelle project for now.”
He explained that the timing felt right for both of them. The film, he said, matches where they are in their lives and careers. “But this is a decision we made because we really feel that it's also time. More than just being in a love team, we're also actors.”
Belle added that it was a personal and shared decision, “And time apart would allow us to grow, find what we want, find who we are, and come back as better people.”
Donny and Belle clarified that the decision had been discussed for a long time and stressed that DonBelle is not ending, as their partnership with fans will continue while they focus on individual growth.
Belle concluded, “Plus, whether that's working with each other or not, we're really supportive of each other. And this is the best step to growth. And that's why we're really decided on doing it.”
Over the years, the pair have worked on several projects together, including “He’s Into Her,” “Love Is Color Blind,” “An Inconvenient Love,” “How to Spot a Red Flag” and "Can’t Buy Me Love."
