Filipino-British actor Edward Barber training to be a Christian pastor

Actor and host Edward Barber has begun a new phase in his personal life after officially entering pastoral training in a Christian church.

Favor Church Manila recently held its annual Leaders Advance, where it acknowledged its newly ordained pastors and pastors in training. Edward was among those recognized, joining both newly ordained pastors and others preparing for ministry.

Photos shared by the church showed  Edward receiving a blessing from church leaders and holding his pastor in training certificate, marking a formal step toward ministry. 

The ceremony also included the commissioning of other individuals, reflecting a shared commitment to spiritual service and growth.

Before this new chapter, Edward first rose to national fame in 2016 as a housemate on Pinoy Big Brother: Lucky 7, where he finished fourth.

He later formed the popular on-screen pairing “MayWard” with season winner Maymay Entrata, a partnership that lasted for several years and helped launch his acting career. He went on to star in projects such as Loving in Tandem, Fantastica and Princess DayaReese, According to Edward’s profile on the Internet Movie Database (IMDB).

Edward’s decision to pursue church leadership reflects a personal journey shaped by years of reflection on faith, purpose and service.

While fans know him for his accomplishments in entertainment, this move highlights a side of him devoted to spiritual growth and service. He has consistently shared that his personal faith plays an essential role in guiding his life choices and priorities. 

His YouTube Channel, Painfully Human Podcast, focuses on conversations about life, emotional growth and living with intention, themes that closely align with his current path toward ministry.

Despite his new role in church, Edward has made it clear to the public that he is not leaving show business. He will not close the door to work in acting, hosting, and podcasting while serving as a pastor in training.
