Nintendo is heading back to the stars with a new trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie.

The colorful trailer premiered on January 25 during a special Nintendo Direct presentation hosted by Mario creator Shigeru Miyamoto.

According to The Sunday Guardian, the new trailer offers a lively mix of bolder visuals, and playful comedy and action, teasing a bigger, space-themed adventure beyond the Mushroom Kingdom.

The sequel to 2023’s The Super Mario Bros. Movie is set to release on April 1, this year and promises colorful worlds, fast action, and the series’ signature playful charm.

The trailer’s biggest reveal is Yoshi, whose long-anticipated appearance marks his first major role in a Mario feature film. It shows Mario and Luigi encountering the beloved dinosaur as part of a larger ensemble, a moment that sparked excitement among fans.

Yoshi is joined by other Nintendo characters, including Birdo and Mouser. Birdo appears in an action scene with Princess Peach, while Mouser’s cameo  shows the filmmakers drawing from Mario’s long history.

In the same report The Sunday Guardian, Nintendo has confirmed that the main voice cast from The Super Mario Bros. Movie will return for Galaxy, with Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Princess Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.

Joining the sequel are new additions Brie Larson as Princess Rosalina and Benny Safdie as Bowser Jr., as stated by GamesRadar+, injecting fresh star power and exciting new character dynamics into the film.

As of today, the Imagine Games Network (IGN) reports that Nintendo has yet to reveal who will voice Yoshi, leaving fans guessing whether the character will speak or stick to his iconic vocalizations.

With its April release fast approaching, The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is shaping up to be one of 2026’s most anticipated animated releases.

Inspired by the beloved Super Mario Galaxy games, the film blends nostalgia with modern storytelling, promising a visually imaginative journey across planets and galaxies.
